Polaris Ultra stents are used in urological surgery to maintain patency of the ureter to allow urine drainage from the renal pelvis to the bladder.

Features, Advantages and Benefits

The following features make the Polaris Ultra stents an effective device for urological procedures with minimal complications.

Feature Advantages Benefits
Percuflex material with Hydroplus coating construction
These stents are made of Percuflex material having a soft, smooth, and flexible surface. A Hydroplus coating over this Percuflex layer provides an ideal interface between the stent and the epithelial layer of the ureter.
The Hydroplus coating offers a low coefficient of friction for ease of insertion and softens on implantation at body temperature to maintain patient comfort.
Structural integrity and columnar strength
The structural integrity of Percuflex material and columnar strength provides a low profile and large inner lumen for the stent. This 5Fr diameter version stent can be easily passed over a 0.038” guidewire and thus maximize the urine flow.
A 5Fr diameter stent has a higher spontaneous dislodgement rate than ordinary stents and thereby boosting the drainage. This feature ensures normal flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder.
Proprietary Co-extrusion technology
The Polaris Ultra stent features a proprietary co-extrusion technology that combines a firm durometer Percuflex Plus and a soft durometer Percuflex material in the same stent.
This unique feature allows smooth transition from firm to soft stent durometer.
Bladder coils
The Polaris Ultra stent features a Nautilus™ bladder coil designed to hold the stent in place. The bladder coils hold each end of the stent when the top end coils are inside the kidney and the lower end coils inside the bladder.
Due to its distinct feature, bladder irritation during the procedure can be potentially minimized; it also facilitates easy removal compared to other Polaris stents.
Flexibility and durability
The tapered tip design, larger inner lumen ratio and the use of biocompatible material helps in easy migration of the stent through the ureteral orifice. High retention coil strength helps to maintain the pigtail shape of the stent. Additionally, the biocompatible material used to manufacture the Percuflex stents are designed for 365-day indwelling time.
These features make the stent highly flexible and offer a smooth navigation even through the tight strictures. Biocompatible manufacturing material offers a long-term stent placement up to 365 days making the Polaris Ultra highly durable.
